1:72 T-55 Medium Battle Tank

The T-54 / T-55 medium tank series was produced by the Soviet Union at the end of the Second World War.

The T-55 model embraced some of the key features of the famous WW2 Russian T-34 tank, which was simplicity in design, effective, economic to produce and easy to repair on the battlefield. The qualities of the T-55 saw it taken into service not only by Warsaw Pact allies, but also a few years later by some African and Asian countries.

The T-55 is considered to be one of the most notable MBTs (Main Battle Tanks) produced after WWII, evolving from the T-54 design through the adoption of an improved engine, more space for ammunition and more effective NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) protection. It was armed with a 100 mm gun and equipped with effective and heavy armor protection that brought its total weight up to 35 tons.

It was in use for several decades in many theaters of operations, becoming one of the most revered armored vehicles in military history.

Size of the model: 12,5cm

1:72 15 cm Field Howitzer / 10,5 cm Field Gun

The 150 mm SFH18 howitzer was widely deployed by the Wehrmacht on all of the key fronts during WW11. It was developed during the ’20s and ‘30s by Rheinmetall and Krupp, one of the main artillery companies in Germany, with a view to optimizing resources and technological capabilities within the parameters imposed by the Treaty of Versailles.

From 1933 onwards, Germany's rearmament planning became ever more ambitious, with a particularly significant increase in the production of howitzers and field cannons.

The SFH18 had a simple and reliable structure with a maximum range of 13.5 km. It could be divided into two sections and towed by horses, or more often during the war, by half-tracks.

The SFH18 had a seven-man crew. A 105 mm calibre version was developed on the same carriage, (sK 10,5 cm)which was characterized by the longer barrel, but was produced in few specimens as much heavier than the standard 105 mm leFH18, which was the field artillery cannon supplied to the Wehrmacht.

1:72 Sd.Kfz. 251/1 “Stuka Zu Fuss”

The Sd.Kfz.251 half-track was an armored fighting vehicle (AFV), which was deployed by the Wehrmacht on all operational fronts during the Second World War.

Powered by a Maybach 6-cylinder petrol engine it was able to reach a speed of 55 km / h even on ‘off road’ terrain. Produced in huge numbers, it was mainly used to transport ‘Panzergrenadiers’, but during the war several versions were developed to meet differing operational requirements. The Wurfrahmen rocket launcher version was built on the Sd.Kfz.251. Equipped with 6 compartments, 3 on each side, intended for the launch of rockets of different sizes, it was nicknamed “Stuka zu Fuss”.

Although not precise, it could have an important psychological effect on enemy troops and still proved to be a valid support for ground troops especially in urban fighting.

1:72 Berlin 1945: the Reichstag conquest

Laser-cut MDF Reichstag - Russian & German infantry - T-34/85 russian tank - FlaK 37 8,8 cm gun with crew.

The “Battle of Berlin” heralded the end of the Second World War in the European theatre.

This major offensive launched by the Soviet Red Army, after passing the German defensive lines on the Oder River, moved directly to the capital of the Third Reich. The city itself was defended by Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS, “Hitlerjugend” and “Volkssturm” soldiers, and was the setting for the final and most fierce clashes of the war. The Soviet forces, led by Marshal Zhukov and Marshal Konev, with an overwhelming superiority of soldiers, vehicles and artillery, forced the surrender and capitulation of the city on May 2, 1945.

The Reichstag building, seat of the Reich parliament, had a huge symbolic value and was the stage for the final acts of the conflict in Europe. The Red Army soldier raising the Soviet flag on the ruins of the Reichstag at the end of the battle of Berlin, is one of the most iconic images of the Second World War.

1:72 Panzerkampfwagen 35 (t)

The Czechoslovakian LT vz.35 light tank was designed and manufactured during the 1930s. Armed with two machine guns and a 37mm gun it was, for the period, a reliable and effective tank.

It was also fast across all types of terrain and had a high degree of self-sufficiency. It was designated with the new name Panzerkampfwagen 35 (t), where the letter “t” indicated Czechoslovakian production. The German Wehrmacht used a large number of Panzerkampfwagen in the Panzerwaffe. It actively participated in both the Polish and French campaigns and in the early stages of “Operation Barbarossa”.

However, from 1941 onwards the light tank become obsolete, and was subsequently used in support or recon roles, or indeed sold to Axis allies such as Bulgaria and Romania.

1:72 waterloo 1815: La Haye Sainte

From 16th to 18th June the French troops and the Allied troops clashed on battlefields of Belgium. The battles of Ligny and Quatre Bras were only the proem of the most famous and well-known battle of the military history. A date and a place : 18th June 1815, Waterloo. Wellington considered the farm of La Haie Sainte a strategic point of his defensive line. In the afternoon, Napoleon ordered to Marshal Ney to launch the assault to the farm in order to obtain a significant outpost.

The farm was strenuously defended by Allied troops, that had fortified the buildings since the morning. The clash was fierce and the French troops, supported by artillery, were able to conquer La Haye Sainte only in the late afternoon. At 7 p.m. ,thanks to the strategic value of the farm, the French Imperial Guard can start the assault but it is too late. Prussian troops leaded by Blucher, vainly searched by Marshal Grouchy, break on the battlefield to support British Army

1:72 Churchill Mk. III

The Churchill medium tank came into service with the British Army in 1942 to support and replace the earlier Valentines, Matildas and Crusaders, which, by then, were all outdated and inadequate in terms of both armor and weaponry, easily falling prey to the more advanced German tanks.

Equipped with thick armor and a reliable engine, it proved to be tough and dependable, later being produced in ever-more efficient, upgraded versions.

Its chassis was also used as a platform for specialized support vehicles such as the mine clearer, the bridge layer and the flame-thrower.

1:72 Montecassino 1944: “Gustav” Line Battle

During the Italian campaign, in the period from January to May 1944, the allied forces under the command of General Mark Clark, advanced upon the German 10th Army commanded by General Heinrich von Vietinghoff, who were entrenched in defensive positions along the Gustav line.

The cornerstone of the Gustav line was the small town of Cassino which controlled the river Liri valley. Cassino itself was dominated by the historic Benedictine abbey of Montecassino, which was an important strategic observation and defensive position of the German forces. The determined resistance offered by the German troops, who held their positions for almost four months, was assisted by the difficult weather conditions, which hindered the allied advance. Fierce fighting ensued to try and oust the Germans from their stubbornly held defensive line.

It was not until mid-May that the German positions were finally breached, which allowed the allied advance to Rome to ensure its liberation in June 1944.

1:72 Sd.Kfz.234/4

The Schwerer Panzerspähwagen Sd.Kfz. 234 armoured car series was produced by Germany during the final phases of the Second World War.

The vehicles were characterized by a high standard of construction quality that offered mobility, protection, and offensive capability. The 234 could reach a maximum speed of 85 km / h on the road. Of the versions produced, the Sd.Kfz. 234/4 was armed with the powerful 75 mm gun KwK 40, capable of penetrating much of the armour of opposing enemy vehicles.

The gun was installed in a fixed position in the centre of the “open air” combat chamber. The protection of the crew was afforded by a shield, like that of the Pak 40 used by the infantry. All these capabilities combined, provided the Wehrmacht with an armoured car that met the full range of operational requirements.

1:72 T-62

A successor to the T-55, the T-62 like its predecessor, was the backbone of Soviet and Warsaw Pact armored divisions for many years.

Although very similar to the T-55, the new Soviet "Main Battle Tank" incorporated notable improvements in terms of its armor, aiming systems and above all with the main weapon system. The T-62 was in fact equipped with the new 115 mm high-speed smooth-bore gun. Innovative for the period, it was able to use a wide range of munitions which were capable of penetrating the armor of the main battle tanks deployed by the N.A.T.O. alliance.

The tank entered service in the early ‘60s and was used in its various versions by both the Soviet Union and its allies. The tank has been deployed in a variety of military conflicts ranging from Afghanistan to the Middle East.

Based on the existing light tank, the Pz.Kpfw. II, this self-propelled artillery vehicle was developed for the German army in 1942 and saw its baptism of fire during the Battle of Kursk. With an increased hull length, it was able to accommodate the 10.5cm FH18 howitzer. Thanks to its good mobility and partially protected gun compartment, it was able to operate near the front lines. This ensured the artillery support of the infantry units during combat. With a production that reached more than 650 units between 1943 and 1945, this self-propelled artillery vehicle became the standard medium howitzer for the panzer and panzergrenadier divisions.
